What does American Labs do?
American Labs is a venture studio applying artificial intelligence to company building and existing platforms. We create companies in-house, incubate ventures with experienced founders, and modernize software for established companies.
What is a company of One?
A business directed by one builder, with intelligence modules supporting ten functions: Product, Engineering, Sales, Growth, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal, Support, and Data. Human judgment stays at the center, with professional review where needed.
What does a company of One mean?
One builder directs the business while intelligence modules carry work across ten functions. The builder stays responsible for customers, direction, and decisions, with shared context, checks, feedback, and professional review in the system.
What are the ten intelligence functions?
The functions are Product, Engineering, Sales, Growth, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal, Support, and Data. They share context through a common harness while human judgment stays at the center.
How does market evidence guide decisions?
Revenue, retention, and organic pull show whether a product is useful and wanted. When those signals are weak, American Labs changes the approach or stops. The market decides what earns more time.
Which way of working fits my company?
Creation is about the ventures we originate in-house. Incubation is for founders bringing their own company. Transformation is for established businesses upgrading an existing platform. The starting point is different; the standard is evidence from the market.
How is Creation different from Incubation?
Creation starts with American Labs’ own ideas and companies. Incubation is for experienced founders bringing a company of their own. Both use the studio’s operating experience and intelligence modules, with the same standard of evidence from the market.
Can I submit my startup idea through Creation?
The Creation conversation is about ventures we build in-house. If you are already building your own company, start with Incubation and tell us what you have tested, your customers, and the next question you are trying to answer.
What does a company of One look like?
One builder directs the business, with intelligence modules supporting product, engineering, sales, growth, marketing, operations, finance, legal, support, and data. The builder stays responsible for direction and decisions, with professional review where needed.
How do you decide which ideas to keep building?
We test products with real customers. Revenue, retention, and organic demand help determine what earns more time and capital. When the evidence is weak, we change the approach or stop. A finished prototype is a starting point for learning.
How can I get involved with a studio venture?
Tell us which venture interests you and what you have in mind, whether it is a product question, partnership, or working together. A note about the work, where you need help, and what you want to explore next is enough to begin.
Can I submit an outside idea through Creation?
Creation is for ventures American Labs originates and builds in-house. If you are already building your own company, Incubation is the right place to share what you have tested and what customers have told you.
Who is Incubation for?
Experienced founders already building their own companies, particularly solo and near-solo technical founders. Share the product, what you have tested, and what customers have told you so we can understand the work and the possible fit.
What should I include in an incubation inquiry?
Describe the customer problem, your product, and the decisions you are trying to make. Include a demo or website if you have one, along with the evidence you have gathered from customers. Explain where product, engineering, or operating support could help.
What are the incubation terms and timeline?
American Labs does not publish fixed program dates or standard equity terms. Start a conversation about your company to discuss fit, scope, and the terms that would apply. Sending an inquiry does not commit either side to working together.
Do I need revenue before getting in touch?
We do not publish a minimum revenue requirement. Bring what you have built and tested, including customer conversations, a demo, or early usage. The more clearly you can describe the problem and what you have learned, the more useful the conversation can be.
Where can the studio help?
Product strategy, engineering, market testing, sales, growth, and capital can all be part of the conversation. We start with where the company needs judgment and support, then discuss a scope that fits. The founder remains close to customers and decisions.
What does American Labs bring to founders?
We bring operating judgment, product and engineering experience, intelligence modules, market testing, and support shaped to the work. The founder remains close to customers and the decisions that matter.
What should founders bring to an incubation conversation?
Share what you have built, what you tested, what customers told you, and the next question you are trying to answer. A demo or website can help make the conversation concrete.
What can a platform modernization engagement cover?
Architecture, product design, user interfaces and experience, backend, frontend, and intelligence integration. The scope depends on the existing product, its stack, and the operating problems the company needs to address.
What should I share about my existing platform?
Describe what the product does, who relies on it, the current stack, and what is slowing the team down. Explain the workflows or systems involved and the outcome you need. A short, non-confidential overview is enough to begin.
Does modernization mean replacing everything?
The starting point is what works, what gets in the way, and what the business needs next. That may call for focused improvements or a broader rebuild. We discuss the existing architecture and operating constraints before deciding on an approach.
How do you decide where intelligence belongs?
We look at repeated information handling, missing context, and decisions slowed by disconnected systems. Intelligence should support a useful workflow, with the right checks and human judgment. The business need determines the technology.
Does Transformation replace an existing platform?
Transformation starts with what already works and what slows the operation down. The work may involve focused improvements or a broader rebuild, shaped by the existing architecture and business constraints.
Where is American Labs located?
Our locations are Chicago, New York, Boston, and Albania. These offices connect the studio to builders, operators, and partners across the places where our work takes shape, while keeping the team close to the people and companies we work with.
